About Salsa del Caribe

Salsa del Caribe is a community group designed to bring the culture, music and dance of Caribbean societies to the people of Olympia, Washington. It began in 2005 under the vision of Chris Hamm, local Salsa instructor. The ultimate goal of the group is to create a following focused on the participation in the annual Procession of the Species by sharing what we learn artistically each year. As a community group we welcome and encourage the participation of all members of the community to join and take equal part in the development and direction of our organization, making this group truly unique as each individual adds their own background, skills and experiences so each year we are working with different influences. The best part is that you don't need any background or experience in Caribbean cultures or any art form for that matter! A great portion of our association participates just to learn something new.
