Spice of the Caribbean...

Videos

2006: Click the link below to check out several videos that The Olympian newspaper published online to document the progression of the Procession through the course of its 8 weeks in the art studio. There are segments on all the music and dance groups, the studio's artistic transformation, the hard work of volunteers and of course the last second finishing touches on projects. This was a great way for the public to see what goes on behind the scenes and what it takes to make the Procession of the Species what we see in the street. There are also some great clips of Salsa del Caribe in videos #1: "Procession volunteers start working" and #7: "Final touches for Procession." A few seconds of Caribe's Procession street performance can be viewed in the last minute of video #10: "2006 Procession of the Species Part 1".  A special thanks is in order to David Forhan, online producer at The Olympian who made all the videos possible and to everyone at the newspaper who made the 2006 Procession of the Species and all of its splendor available to share with a wider audience and especially for those who couldn't see all the magic and fun in person. Thank you! Olympian videos online:

You can also find another video from local television station TCTV channel 22 on their website: http://www.tctv.net by viewing the "Programming" link and finding Procession of the Species 2006 under "Online Programming". This covered a great portion of the Procession in the street. We are at 21 minutes and 35 seconds.

2007: Go to http://www.tctv.net and access the "Programming" link, then choose Procession of the Species 2007 under "Online Programming".  We are at 9 minutes and 30 seconds.

Enjoy!
